I was reading an article “Prospect of gay march in Jerusalem unites often hostile faiths” about a guy march taking place in Israel, and I find myself divided over the issue. On one hand, I feel for anyone’s struggle with his or her sexuality, and the deep need to be accepted, regardless if one is gay or not. I don’t adhere to a belief that G-d will cut off a gay person from his people, whether it is Jewish people, Muslim people, and etc. I don’t believe that because a person is gay he or she stops being a Jew, or a Muslim, or a Christian, and so on. I am sure G-d will have a long talk with them, but then He will have a long talk with me as well, I have my issues with my own sexuality to address, in addition to everything else. Part of me feels that gay parade should take place anywhere the organizers want it to take place. On the other hand, I question the wisdom of having a parade in Jerusalem, or a Rome for that matter. Isn’t it a bit “in your face” gesture?
But for me the funny part of it all is how all the religious leaders united in their objection to the parade. Perhaps the parade should take place, since it is bringing all the religious leaders together, and they are finally agreeing on something?
